Since 2022 Carecoins has been working closely with the farming community to deliver both mental health training and expert counselling services to those in need
Carecoins counselling and therapy services were unique in that we were able to not only provide telephone or video therapy, but that we went the extra mile to provide in person face to face counselling, including at the farms of those in need who were unable to leave their farms.

Strengthening rural wellbeing
To date we have provided over 6,500 hours of therapy, to over 600 people in the farming community. Our expert therapists were upskilled in farming terminology and risk factors to better be able to support the farming community.
We have delivered an incredible 876 hours of mental health training to the farming community, including to farm workers, labourers, suppliers, vets and government agencies. This has led to over 700 people living and working within our farming and rural communities being trained in critical mental health first aid skills.
Backing farmers
Farmers are crucial to the wellbeing of the nation, but with 73% of farmers saying that their mental health has deteriorated in the last 12 months, it is a profession that is at high risk of poor mental health.
We've been working with the farming community for the last 4 years, and in that time have developed deep relationships within the farming community, delivering expert mental health training, bespoked to the unique challenges of farming, as well as crucial therapy support, including on farms themselves, to those in need.

In 2027 we're looking to launch the first farming focused, therapist led helpline.
This will give farmers access to professional support, wherever and whenever they need it.

Opengate Wellbeing Project is Carecoins CIC flagship support for the rural and farming community.
Its aims are to provide immediate access to counselling and therapy support for people in the rural and farming communities, as well as mental health first aid training, all free to those most in need. We’re also pairing this support with groundbreaking research into the mental health challenges facing the farming community, in a bid to help shape ongoing policy around mental health support.
